Enhancing support for Roma women victims of GBV
Democracy and e-democracy thank to life skills improvement, participative cultural researches and creative laboratories
RoW-POWER is an innovative project designed to support Roma women at risk of gender-based violence (GBV) in overcoming the cultural, linguistic, and social barriers they face in reaching out to and accessing relevant support services. This will be achieved by bringing together Roma mediators and GBV professionals in an effort to promote mutual exchange and cooperation that will allow them to better understand, respond to, and support the needs of Roma women at risk of GBV. RoW POWER attempts to train, improve skills towards tackling violence against Roma women and foster cooperation across two key sectors that until now have not cooperated in an organised way: a) Roma mediators and b) GBV prevention organisations and victim support professionals.
RoW-POWER will focus on the identification of good practices and skill gaps in Roma mediators and GBV professionals’ cooperation as well as the development of a capacity building programmes for Roma mediators and GBV professionals and the formulation of a protocol of cooperation between them to be used in Workshops with Roma women victims of GBV or at risk of facing GBV.
- to enhance skills & capacities of at least 60 Roma Mediators & 60 GBV professionals that work in support services of Roma women victims of GBV to: a) more effectively inform & guide Roma women to the appropriate GBV support services, b) have better understanding of the challenges & cultural background of Roma women, c) provide improved support reporting & counseling services to Roma women victims or at risk of GBV & facilitate their access, d) improve the cooperation between Roma Mediators and GBV professionals
- to organize and implement 12 Info- Workshops and /or webinar in total, s in all partner countries with the participation of at least 60 Roma mediators and 240 Roma women facing or at risk of GBV.
- to organize and implement 12 Counselling & Empowerment Workshops and /or webinars in total, in all partner countries with the participation of at least 60 GBV professionals, 60 Roma mediators, and 240 Roma women facing or at risk of GBV.
- to involve at least 60 Roma women and 30 key actors in total in all partner countries in the design and development of an awareness raising campaign from the Roma women to Roma women regarding GBV, the ways and needs of tackling it.
- to reach at least 180 stakeholders, Roma and pro-Roma organizations through Info Days.
- to increase the visibility of Roma women’s challenges to address GBV issues.
- A transferable Cooperation guidelines / methodology toolkit for Roma mediators & GBV professionals with best practices
- A protocol of cooperation between Roma mediators & GBV professionals
- A tailored open access online programme for upskilling Roma mediators
